Mimi Visit

Mimi came to visit this week.  We went to two different playgrounds, played in the yard, we out for ice cream, ran around the town common, and went out to brunch (our first trip out to eat with E).  Mimi was great at getting baby E to do some quality tummy time.  C was so excited to see Mimi, that when he woke up the first morning of her trip and saw Ma Ma in his doorway to get him up, he politely said, " I want Mimi".  Who can blame him?

Marathon Monday

On Marathon weekend he had a great time spending the whole long weekend in the yard.  Da Da had a lot of yard projects and C was eager to help.  He got a "Cars" watering can and helped Ma Ma plant tulips in our big pot.  A neighbor gave C a little wheelbarrow with a rake and shovel and he helped Da Da move rocks back and forth.  We had a picnic lunch under our tree and met some new little friends in the neighborhood.  Then we cheered on runners just steps away from our driveway.

Happy Easter!

We had a great Easter! Good thing C wanted to try on his Easter outfit on Friday night, because he was on the move the rest of the weekend so we didn't get any photos of him on the actual holiday as dressed up as he was playing around! We all went to a little Easter celebration in town, but we didn't know that the little Easter dance party only lasted for 30 minutes, so we came in right when it was ending. Luckily there was a great playground outside, so C, Da Da and Ba Ba played while Ma Ma and little Miss saved a spot in line for C to have his photo taken with the Easter Bunny.

On Easter morning, C was excited to see the baskets and immediately knew which one was his and which was his baby sister's. He has surprised to see that when he took the foil off the bunny that "there is CHOCOLATE on this bunny!" He got a Buzz Lightyear tee-shirt, some books, and Elmo and the Count figurines.

After church, we had an Easter egg hunt in our back yard. When C found the first egg, he opened it, let the M and M's fall to the ground, and then started picking them up one by one and put them in his basket. We tried to explain to him that he could peak at the candies, put the eggs back together, and then put the eggs in the basket. But he ended up doing the same thing for all of the eggs. Our lawn is littered with pastel candies!

We had a great time with family for Easter. The only thing was that Little Miss went through a 48 hour "only Ma Ma can hold me" phase. While it is always nice to feel so loved, it was hard since there were lots of people that would loved to have held her too!

Back to Work

This week I went back to work. C was a good big brother and introduced his baby sister to all of his friends at "school". Overall the week went pretty smoothly, although C is learning the fine art of procrastination. "Five more minutes" in now one of his favorite sayings. On Monday morning when we went in to get him dressed, he looked at us and said, "Ma Ma and Da Da wear work shirts". I guess that was him beginning to realize that I was going back to work. He spent much of my leave saying, "Da Da is a grown up so he goes to work". I didn't want to remind him that I am a grown up too!

Monday and Tuesday I commute into the office, and Wednesday and Thursday I get to work from home. Naturally, I thought the commuting days would be the most difficult. However, we got out the door pretty well on those days, when the whole family left together and they dropped me off near the train station on the way to "school". But on the other days he was a little fussy, wanted to stay home, and it took much longer to get out the door. I realized it was because he thought I wasn't working, because I didn't have a "work shirt" on. I took advantage of being at home and not having to dress up, and he noticed. When we finally got in the car, he said, "you wear a sweatshirt?" I had to assure him that eventually I would be putting a work shirt on. I guess he believes in at least being business casual at home!

Time Off Together

We tried to make the most of my last two weeks of maternity leave. I took E for her first trip to BC to visit Da Da at work. We all enjoyed the unusually warm weather outside. It was so warm that I have to run out and buy them both some shorts and tee shirts to get us through the week! Then all of a sudden the temperatures dropped to normal and we were too cold to play outside again. So one day we took a trip to an indoor playground. There was a small bouncy castle (pictured) and a large bouncy castle, among others fun toys. C looked so excited when we got there, but was intimidated by the big castle. I talked him into trying the little one, and he must have spent at least half an hour straight bouncing and laughing, After awhile he tentatively tried the big castle. He was so proud of himself. When he got home, he told his Da Da, " I went on a little castle and a big castle and a black castle and I wasn't scared!" Since we didn't even ask if he was scared, I am guessing that was his way of saying that he was, but not anymore! I have a feeling that when he is a teenager he is going to be mortified by this photo of him driving around in a pink car, but he really liked it!
