Happy Mother's Day

All About E

I can't believe that E is already 4 months old.  She has doubled her weight since she was born and is now 14 pounds 1 oz. Things that I love about E:
  • When she gets tired, I can rub my fingertip from the top to the tip of her nose and she closes her eyes.
  • She wakes up with a smile on her face...I don't think I have woken up to a scream once
  • She is always looking around for her big brother.
  • One of the only things she fusses for is if she needs some Ma Ma snuggle time...and that is fine with me!
  • Just like her brother, she loves to cuddle.
  • She seems to know the answer when we say ask her "Where's Baby E?"
  • She is determined to get her whole hand in her mouth, while chomping on it.

Farm With No Animals

Last weekend we went to a free open house at Belkin Lookout Farm.  It was fun, but there were no animals!  The animals were coming later that week.  Luckily there was plenty to do.  I love seeing when C gets excited to do something challenging---like climb up a pyramid of hay or jump in a bouncy castle with older kids or "drive" a caterpillar train.  I also love the moments where I see him take in a situation and realize he is a little scared.  I don't like to see him scared, but I love that he looks into our eyes and asks for help.

G is for George and Giggles

When M and I were in grad school, there was a Curious George bookstore right near by.  Since then is closed, and we ended up having a son who is obsessed with George.  The bookstore reopened this weekend, so C and I took a trip to the grand opening.  (I am glad we didn't make it a full family trip, the store was so small, we wouldn't have all been able to squeeze in the crowds!)  C picked out a little puzzle, and I got a wall decal for his room that I had had my eye on for months.  (Now, C says "good morning" and "goodnight" to the George on his wall every day.  He also asks to be picked up sometimes so he can give George a high five.  He also reminds him to be a good little monkey and not be too curious.  So far he hasn't tried to climb his dresser to reach George, and we are hoping to keep it that way!)

At the store there was a man making balloon animals.  This was one of those cases where C shows how patient he can be for CERTAIN things (he can be incredibly, two-year-old-ish inpatient for lots of things!)  We had to have waited in line for his balloon for at least 30-45 minutes.  I kept asking, "do you want to wait for the balloon or leave" and he was intent on waiting.  He camped out on the sidewalk and ate his snack.  By the time it was his turn, his eyes were glued to the man and he was shuffling back and forth . The family behind us couldn't get over "how excited this little boy was for his balloon."

He then got this giant hat that was bigger than him.  You should have seen us trying to walk through Harvard Square with this on.  And then the most exciting thing, meeting George!

Our other fun development this weekend was making E laugh by singing her the watermelon song--and were able to get her giggles on video. (You can see the video better small...it is a little grainy when you make it full screen). Of course now C wants E to laugh on demand every time we sing the song.  She is a very happy girl, but that is a lot to ask!
