This week I went back to work. C was a good big brother and introduced his baby sister to all of his friends at "school". Overall the week went pretty smoothly, although C is learning the fine art of procrastination. "Five more minutes" in now one of his favorite sayings. On Monday morning when we went in to get him dressed, he looked at us and said, "Ma Ma and Da Da wear work shirts". I guess that was him beginning to realize that I was going back to work. He spent much of my leave saying, "Da Da is a grown up so he goes to work". I didn't want to remind him that I am a grown up too!
Monday and Tuesday I commute into the office, and Wednesday and Thursday I get to work from home. Naturally, I thought the commuting days would be the most difficult. However, we got out the door pretty well on those days, when the whole family left together and they dropped me off near the train station on the way to "school". But on the other days he was a little fussy, wanted to stay home, and it took much longer to get out the door. I realized it was because he thought I wasn't working, because I didn't have a "work shirt" on. I took advantage of being at home and not having to dress up, and he noticed. When we finally got in the car, he said, "you wear a sweatshirt?" I had to assure him that eventually I would be putting a work shirt on. I guess he believes in at least being business casual at home!
